MERCY Spotlight: Compassion in Action
A Call to Action
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.” – Mark 10:45
A BOLD INITIATIVE
The Year of Righteous = The Year of Servitude
As we embark on 2025, The Year of Righteousness, MERCYworldwide has launched a bold initiative to make serving a core part of our identity as disciples of Jesus. This year, we are calling every small group, the Bible Talks, across our 140 churches worldwide to engage in a monthly service project in your communities.
Serving - A Lifestyle of Righteousness
Imagine the global impact of thousands of disciples—a sea of green—bringing the light of Christ to the world just as He did. Jesus didn’t just preach; He served. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, comforted the broken, and met people’s physical needs. Serving wasn’t an event for Jesus—it was a lifestyle of righteousness and compassion.
MERCY SPOTLIGHT: COMPASSION IN ACTION
Excitingly, MERCY Ambassadors have already begun embracing this call and making a difference in their communities.
Here are just a few inspiring examples of how disciples are putting their faith into action:
💚 MERCY Seattle is on a Mission: Partnering for Change /

The Seattle International Christian Church and MERCY Seattle is joining forces with the Seattle Union Gospel Mission, a legacy organization dedicated to helping the homeless rebuild their lives since the Great Depression. In the next stage of this growing partnership, MERCY Ambassadors will undergo specialized training to go into the community in small groups for search and rescue missions, bringing those in need into recovery shelters and guiding them on a path to restoration.
💚 MERCY Los Angeles: Partnering for a Safer Tomorrow

In partnership with LA Works, MERCY Ambassadors, gathered in small groups in regions across Los Angeles, stepping in to provide relief and support as the affected areas begin their recovery. The "Clean LA" initiative aims to clear dry debris from fire-prone zones, taking proactive steps to reduce the risk of future fires and ensure a safer, more resilient community.
💚 MERCY Brazil - “Doe sangue, doe vida.” - “Donate blood, donate life.”

💚 MERCY Brazil - In Rio de Janeiro, 23 MERCY Ambassadors gathered at two separate health centers to give blood.
“Doe sangue, doe vida.” - “Donate blood, donate life.”
And these are just a few examples of how MERCY Ambassadors are serving all across the globe!!
Call to Action - Get started today:
Coretta Scott King, the wife of Martin Luther King, once said:
"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members."
Now is our time to rise to this call! Whether it’s mentoring youth, supporting single mothers, giving blood, caring for those with physical and mental challenges, encouraging the elderly, feeding the homeless, visiting the sick, or cleaning neighborhoods—let’s make serving our way of life.
Let’s not just be known for what we believe—let’s be known for how much we love and serve.
