Day of Mercy: COVID-19
Providing global assistance during a time of crisis through delivery of essential resources.
The International Day of MERCY: Serving the World Together
Every year, MERCYworldwide unites volunteers across the globe for our annual day of service—The International Day of MERCY. In 2025, we proudly celebrated the 16th anniversary of this tradition, a day dedicated to compassion, community, and action.
While every year brings inspiring stories, one of the most unforgettable took place in 2021, when the world was still reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the theme “Feeding the World,” our volunteers launched a worldwide effort to respond to unprecedented levels of hunger and hardship.
A Global Response in a Time of Crisis
In June 2021, MERCY volunteers in dozens of nations came together to serve those most affected by the pandemic. In just one day, they:
Fed tens of thousands struggling with the economic impact of COVID-19.
Delivered essential food supplies and care packages to the homeless, unemployed, orphans, and the elderly.
Served communities in over 100 cities worldwide—from bustling urban centers to remote villages.
Partnered with local churches, organizations, and businesses to amplify their impact and meet both immediate and long-term needs.
Compassion Without Borders
Even as health restrictions limited in-person gatherings, the spirit of service proved unstoppable. Volunteers adapted—wearing masks, following safety protocols, and finding creative ways to deliver help and hope. Every package delivered was more than just food; it was a message that no one was forgotten.
A Lasting Symbol of Unity
The 2021 International Day of MERCY became more than an outreach effort—it was a powerful statement of unity, faith in action, and global compassion. It showed that even in the darkest of times, love can shine through, breaking barriers and bringing people together across borders.
As we look ahead to future Days of MERCY, we carry the same conviction that drove our volunteers in 2021: when the world needs hope, we will answer the call—one act of kindness at a time.
