As the President of MERCYWORLDWIDE Nick oversees the overall strategy and operations for MERCY‘s staff, programs, expansion, fundraising and execution of its mission. Nick grew up on the East Coast of the United States and was born in Hartford, Connecticut. He attended Trinity College and received a BA in Intercultural Studies with an Asian focus. During those years, he was selected Second Team Small College All-American safety in football and an All-Eastern Conference catcher in baseball. After college, he moved to Asia to pursue his passions of mastering Mandarin Chinese, the martial arts, and international business. Nick learned Mandarin and attained a second degree black belt. In addition, he was hired by Nike and during his 20 year career was very fortunate to assume different positions in various parts of the world with the company, including Nike’s headquarters in Portland, Oregon. While traveling in different regions of the world Nick witnessed first-hand the poverty, despair, and hopelessness of so many. These experiences inspired Nick alongside his wife, Denise and his close friends from his church to establish MERCYWORLDWIDE in 2008. In his free time Nick is devoted to serving in his church, enjoys playing recreational sports, and most of all adores spending time with his wife, Denise and two daughters, Sonrisa and Makaela.

What people say

I think mercy means helping out because of compassion...and not expecting anything in return.

If I didn't say it enough, thank you, thank you, thank you. I know The Farm and Garden belong, truly, to Gilpin but I feel a great deal of responsibility for making the grounds a beautiful, usable space for the teachers, parents and students. Your team’s work was beyond words. We completed and started so many projects that are now easier to understand and move forward.

Unlike other groups, you all are very excited, making sure to communicate. You bring a different energy, & are helpful regardless of how exhausted you all might be!

I was encouraged by all of the laughs during BINGO, creative art projects, great food, and new friendships. One aspect that truly touched my heart was to see how so many people communicated with one another.
